Hi,

I usually shoot 16x9 letterbox but I just bought a widescreen monitor so I want to shoot squeeze mode.

When capturing and editing in FCP how do I unstretch the image?

thanks, I apologize if this is frequent question.

Matt

Make sure to check the "anamorphic" box in the capture and the sequence settings. That's all there is to it.

Hi,

We are about to capture footage we just shot in the Pakistani desert. Before leaving we shot some test footage (this was a hurried trip, new DVX100b cameras, etc.) using 24 fps, Advanced/Progressive and SQUEEZE mode. The images looked great when viewing from the tape deck on the NTSC monitor. But when we captured it in FCP (using the anamorphic settings) it looked like crap--colors were flat/muted and the resolution--bad. We realize that one loses res. when shooting in squeeze mode, but we didn't think it would look so different. We figure we have the FCP settings wrong.

I was researching this issue online and found your post so am contacting you fort of off-topic, so I apologize. And thanks if you have any suggestions. I am still hunting thru the FCP forum for an answer...Thanks!

You might want to try checking your playback settings. In your sequence there is a button that says "RT" on the left side. Click on that and check your playback settings, if its not already, select high.

Thanks a gazillion! We will try this!
