I was just watching the BTS stuff on Troy and noticed that a dvx was attached to the dolly. Is this extra stuff for the BTS footage or do they actually use this to do anything in post?

You are correct. That is for the B.T.S. stuff. I know a guy that uses the dvx for all his B-roll stuff along with another higher end camera. I met him on the remake of "Starsky and Hutch" That is how I ended up buying my first DVX100. By the way he always shot on 30p mode. He said for DVD's i.e. the small screen. It was the only way to go as far as picture quality.
In other words, that was his preference for the use to which he put it . . .
