DVX External Mic

I was wondering how well the external microphone for the DVX works. I can get one for $80 and I was wondering if it works well for filming someone talking outside from 5 to 10 feet from the camera.

i take it you mean the panasonic shotgun mic that you can buy with the camera. i have no experience with it, but whatever mic you decide to use, you should place it as close to the subject as possible and NOT mount it on your camera.

i'll add that while having never used it, every mention I see of it says its pretty crappy. Save some more and get a rode ntg-1 or an oktava. The stickies in the audio forums have some great info on both of these mics and their use.
