DVX @ E3 2004

E3 is supposedly the largest video game conference/expo in the world and this year was my second time going as media and so many people were there with a DVX. While walking around the show floor, in three days I counted (individual) 33 DVX100's, 15 DVX100A's, and 2 DVC80's. That's a lot of DVX's compared to the one or two I saw at last years show! It's amazing how popular this camera has gotten in just the last 12 months!

tell me about it.. Its funny walking down the street even and seeing them once in awhile.. Panasonic must be doing something right ;)

Re: DVX @ E3 2004

i was at disneyland last week and some guy was carrying a dvx around w/ his family?! maybe some type of family documentary? was it anyone from dvxuser?

Re: DVX @ E3 2004

Wow. The DVX is just too bulky to record "family moments" like that -- not to mention the sheer liability. Yeesh.

Re: DVX @ E3 2004

I do see DVXs on the street now and then. Charlotte's getting to be a much-filmed town these days.

I was at HFStival yesterday (all day music fest in Washington DC) and saw someone interviewing some band members behind the Street Stage. It made me feel warm inside to see other people using me camera. hehe

Was at the zoo the other day and saw some guy testing a dvx. I went over slowly to make smalltalk and complimented his cam, then asked him what kind of mic he had and was like "i dont know, it's a rental" and gave me that "go away im busy" look. musta realized he made a mistake of buying that xl1s too quickly... bastard... :p

Re: DVX @ E3 2004

Here in France, I have yet to spot one DVX100 or 100A on the street, although I know some film schools and indie filmmakers are beginning to use it.

But the other day I was in Lyon doing some test footage when I happened upon a professional TV crew from the State-owned France 3 channel... Even though those guys were lugging two heavy-duty Sony cameras which dwarfed mine by comparison (but size doesn't matter, right ?), they ogled my 100A and complimented me on it. They obviously knew a lot about it... ;D

Re: DVX @ E3 2004

Don't you guys think it's so awesome that our little $4000 camera compares with the big rigs...I mean, it's even been compared to 16mm film...BOOYEAH

Re: DVX @ E3 2004

HEY! I'll be that guy at Disney World...

Two things I've learned...
1) Show up with the right camera and you can go ANYWHERE!
2) I say, "I'm Captain Mench from the USAF."

Ok, 4 things...
3) The 6 year old runs lights, they get hot
4) the 4 year old runs sound, anybody can run sound.
