Sorry about the extreme newbie question.. but what is the definition of DVX?

Is there a thread or wiki about this anywhere?

Is there a glossary of terms?

Does DVX refer to a technology or manufacturer?

Does HVX refer to Panasonic and a technology?

(I realize some of these are basic questions, go easy on me.. hehe)

dvx refers to the panasonic dvx100 (and its a and b revisions)
hvx referes to the panasonic hvx200 (and its a revision)

I think before it was explained something like this:

First letter = definition of picture
Second letter = recording technology
Last letter = frame rates

So it broke down like this:
D = standard definition
V = digital video tape capability
X = 24p capability

H = high definition
V = digital video tape capability
X = 24p capability

H = high definition
P = only P2 recording capability
X = 24p capability

But with the newest batch of cameras this doesn't seem to apply anymore. Well I sorta because I see the new stuff like this:

H = high definition
M = solid state media recording (SD card) capability
C = camera recorder

But it's confusing because it doesn't seem like you can fully rely on these names, for example the hmc150 can shoot 24p.

Maybe they mean nothing, maybe their engineers names, who knows.

Then victoria quit or was fired and it became

Then Xavier got transfered to another department. And Paul died during a hotdog eating competition.

Yeah Panasonic has been urging there engineers to not partake in competitive eating. I hear it may become corporate policy after what happened to Paul.
