I have this theory but never tried it and would like to know your opinions / experience out there on that subject:
We all would like to film HD
. Unfortunately the DVX cannot do that yet. What is the best work-around to achieve near HD quality?
What I would do:
1. Use the Panasonic Anamorphic Adapater and shoot in 24PA (or 24P)
2. Use the entire frame in Vegas (I use PAL), stretch the anamorphic picture and blow-up the picture when rendering to 720p (1280x720p)
My idea is that blowing-up the picture in Vegas during rendering would yield acceptable results when viewed in HD and better results when producing a 35mm copy as compared to using the standard "cropped" 16x9 PAL image.
Has anyone done that? What are the drawbacks apart from reduced colorspace compared to current HD (DVCPRO50, HDCAM)
QUESTION:
How do I blow up the image in Vegas? I try to render as HD but do not know the right Codec to use. To I have to install a special codec to do that? What are the settings to be used? Help! I want cheap near-HD!!
