Re: DVX-100A price to good to be true?

Thanks for the heads up. I could have seriously wasted a lot of money. Thanks again.

Re: DVX-100A price to good to be true?

Royal Camera is notorious for selling gray market cameras and in fact the story on the latest low price they are advertising is that that camera is manufactured in China and there is a 4-6 week wait, but they do hav US cameras available for a higher price. Point is they are selling nothing but gray market, no US warranty, no Magic Bullet.

Hope this helps,

Jan

PS, there is no manufacturing for the AG-DVX100A in China. ;-)
Im very  close to buying a camera for christmas.  I found this at  camcorderinfo.com.

http://www.us1camera.com/shop/Product.asp?sku=DVX100A&ref=pricegrabber

$2,978 ?    They advertise  NO GREY MARKET, ALL INCLUDED ACCESORIES.    FULL USA WARRANTY.

Seems legit.
It is not legit, and the sell gray market. I have two customers that have complained. If it doesn't come with Magic Bullet in the box, they are gray. US Camera told the customer to call Panasonic for the MB.

The offer Gray Market at that price.

Sorry,

Jan

Hey Jan,
Thanx for being on the lookout for all this...nice to know that Pany is hiding in the good shadows on the forum.

Re: DVX-100A price to good to be true?

Looks like he has the right product but I bet you don't get out the door with just the camera. Perhaps bought it from an authorized distributor for resale. You will likely have to buy this that or the other thing or you won't get the camera. The price is too low.

Best regards,

Jan

Re: DVX-100A price to good to be true?

I spoke with shaun at Abe's of Maine and he said that the camera was legit w/the magic bullet software and U.S. warrenty.

He said that that was the price for the camera. $2974

Jan said that they have the right product; now for that price, should a potential buyer go for it?

Re: DVX-100A price to good to be true?

I would guess that one of two things will happen if you do buy that camera from Abe's and it's a legit USA copy-
you will be charged extra for 'shipping or insurance' when you receive the camera and invoice.
OR
You will be told the camera is on back order, and if you wait, it will never ship.

Look at the company info section of the site.

Here's what I found in the contract section of the Broadway Photo (bwayphoto.com) site:

"The charges at checkout may not be final. You will receive your final statement (receipt) with the arrival of your package. Pricing and availability are subject to change without notice. Not all "available" products are on hand for rush delivery. For rush orders we encourage you to please contact us. Products may carry a USA, International or Broadway Photo Warranty. USA warranty may be additional."

and here's a real gem:

"Due to price fluctuation on electronics we can not always offer price protection on already shipped products."

Can you believe this? Cannot offer 'price protection'?? This means that they can charge whatever they feel like after they have already shipped you the product at a quoted price. At that point, your credit card has already been charged and you already have the product. Your only recourse is to return it for a refund, and then you lose shipping + insurance both ways, which can be very costly.
It had me rolling around laughing at how brazen it is.
Don't fall for it.
