Hello everybody.

I am living in Sweden and i will come in the USA to shoot a documentary. I have a DVX100 but i am thinking to by a DVX-100A PAL in the USA.

My question is: Have Panasonic a International warranty ?

Panasonic in Sweden cant answer me the question, becauce is imposible to speak with them.

If something happens during the warranty period and I am in Sweden or out traveling, can I leave it to an authorized Panasonic local dealer in the country where I am, or do I have to send it back to you?

There is a addon Mack extended warranty. They say it is international.
If i pursale the Mack Mack warranty can I leave the Camcorder to an authorized Repair dealer in the country where I am?

I am thinking that Panasonic (or Sony, Canon etc...)
Must have a international warranty. The are many that are traveling and shooting documentaries.
Image you are in Germany and you 3 weeks camera is not working. Must you send all the way back to USA paying post service and waiting untill the camcorder is fix???

There must be a way to fix this problem or??

Re: DVX-100A PAL  & International warranty

Hi there.

Hopefully some of the US-members will give you some more in deep info, but since noone else replied so far I'll give it a shot.
Based on my knowledge, the US warranty is valid in US only, which of course means if you're back home in Sweden and need it repaired you will either a) send it back to US for repair, or b) see if Panasonic Sweden will accept it, and if they do, pay for the repair yourself = expensive.

The MACK extended warranty seems to be pretty much what you are looking for. They offer worldwide coverage. I don't have any personal experiance with them and repairs, so I can't really say how well it works.

Anyway, basically the ordinary warranty that comes with camera is valid in the country of purchase only.

Besides that, the question is, can you find a DVX100a PAL for a good price in the US? I mean PAL camcorders aren't that common over there and also, the US warranty is not worth paying extra for in your case.

Hope this was to any help.
