I will be shooting something on the Panasonic DVX-100A with the anamorphic (16:9) adapter. I have never used the camera and am only using it because I really liked the image quality on stuff I have seen shot with it.
I have certain apprehensions having never used the camera before. I have read on the web at many places that in the 24p mode the camera records a stuttering/strobe like image. True or False? if so, why?
also, will i be able to capture all my footage to FCP 3.0 using my Sony dsr-30 deck (it plays mini DV/DV/DVCam)? If so, since my deck is an NTSC deck, will it screw things up with speed or anything else since the source material was shot in 24p? will the picture quality remain the same?
lastly, i will be editing everything in NTSC and delivering the final program as an NTSC DVCam master. I also need to make a PAL DVCam master which I am planning to make by dubbing my NTSC final master to PAL.
Is all this do-able while maintaining the nice image quality of the DVX-100A?
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks.

True. Because that's how film does it, and the DVX records motion exactly like film does.

Yes.

It will work with no problems.

Now there you've got a problem. A potentially big, huge, nasty problem. I think a PAL conversion of telecine'd 24P is likely to look simply horrible.

In this circumstance your best bet would be to ditch FCP 3. Use FCP 4 with its built-in capability of editing a native 24P timeline. That way you'll be able to make a proper PAL tape that will look exquisite. But trying to use an NTSC->PAL dub of 3:2-pulldown-NTSC 24P material is not going to work.
