DVRigPro New Price Question

I'm considering purchasing a DVRigPro for my DVX. I noticed that recently the price has dropped to 499 at B+H and EVS. My question is if the rig has changed in any way--or made of cheaper materials--or if this was simply a marketing move.

Also, I remember reading a post a while back that the new version of the rig would be compatible with 501/503 quick releases. Is this now the case, or is the additional longer quick release base still required if you want to go quickly from the rig to your 501/503 tripod.

Also, any other new owners who want to chime in with any comments, please do.

Thanks.

Re: DVRigPro New Price Question

I can answer that.

No changes. Our new US importer made this marketing move for a limited time. :D

The QR assembly is still the longer and wider Manfrotto 537 / Bogen 3273 and it will remain this way, The longer plate is essential for sliding the camera between LCD and View finder positions. I was also looking into making a 577 longer plate and use the 501 standard. I decided to drop it because in the 501 QR assambly the plate is safe only when used in certain direction if you insert it in the oposite direction the camera will fly from the rig. I think it is to risky. :'(

Re: DVRigPro New Price Question

Here is a letter from a user I got this morning, So you can see
some DvRigPro shoots tomorrow.

---------------------------------------------------

Danny - I used the DvRigPro on a lot of shots in this video! Great piece
of gear! - John

Country music legend John Conlee’s brand new music video, “They Also
Serve”, an emotional tribute to military families, will premiere to a
national television audience on “Super Bowl Sunday,” February 6, 2005 on
Fox News Channel’s Fox Magazine. Fox Magazine will air at 10 PM CST (11
PM EST).
On that same day, Armed Forces Television will start
broadcasting the video world wide, and soon after it will start airing
on GAC (Great American Country).

John Donegan was selected to produce and direct the video on the basis
of his script treatment and his reputation delivering the most “on
screen bang for the buck in Nashville”.  John’s concept was based on
using Ft. Campbell soldiers and their families, and after gaining swift
approval from The Pentagon and the Army at Ft. Campbell, production
began.

John said, “After several trips to Ft. Campbell, the Bastogne Brigade
(featured in the video) and their families, became like an extended
family to me.  This is a project I am personally and emotionally
attached to since I wrote the screen treatment (the script) and also was
the video’s producer, director, cinematographer and editor.  After first
hearing this song, I knew exactly what I wanted to create and John
Conlee allowed me the freedom to do it.  What we all created together is
a powerfully real and personal snapshot of Americans.”

“I think the end result will help this wonderful song reach across
musical genres.”

Tune in on Super Bowl Sunday.

Re: DVRigPro New Price Question

That's cool Danny, very cool, and I betcha there are many other folks just like John who are using that rig all over the world for similarly impressive projects. It is a great product, and we believe in you guys! Your attention to detail has been exemplary, and I hope other vendors are paying attention ;D
