DVrigPro HD - what's included & best use

Hope this is the right forum, if not, my apologies! :)

I've been thinking about buying the DVrigPro HD from Danny. And I have of course been scouring this great forum for any and all information... Which I have to say is not as much as I'd hoped.

I own a DVX100B with an SGBlade 35mm adapter, which I'll be using to shoot quite a bit of handheld footage. To make this a bit easier, I'm considering this shouldermount as a way to support the DVX during shooting.

From the DVtec website though, it is not quite clear to me what exactly is included in the package. I understand the rig itself is included, as is the waistband and support pod. Are there also counterweights included to balance out the rig? Also is the Manfrotto 503 QRplate included? I have a 503 head, so I would like to be able to slide the DVX off the DVrig and onto the 503. I was also wondering about the shoe for an ext. monitor, is that included also?

Are any of you aware of any video's out there that show people using the DVrigPro HD, or an instruction video on best use? Any comments from owners on usability would be greatly appreciated!

I have exactly the same setup as you have except that I am using Sony HDR-FX1. Same here, I have problem in identifying the items that came with my DVrigPro HD (I bought this second hand from eBay), So there's no manual or anythin. I have contacted Danny regarding this, but there's no reply so far.

No, I have never come across this link!! Thanks a lot. Now I know what is that screw meant for!!

Surprisingly Danny himself never point me to this manual???? Kinda weird ha?

P.s. Yes, there are pretty self explanatory, only that my rig is pretty beat-up, so need to really know what parts for what since the seller never actually used it. He only sells it.

Again, Thanks!

Weights, belt and support pod are included.

You can choose between the wide 357 and the 577 (501 compatible) camera mounts.

For your 35 mm adapter I would recomand the new Extreme Deluxe
rig. see:

Sorry about that, Can't recall any mail from you...

Hi Danny,

Thanks for the reply! I'm checking out the extreme rig, can you tell me why you would recommend it for my setup? And what configuration would you suggest? So the accessory shoe for an ext. monitor is not included in the package for the HD?

If I look at the pictures and compare the HD and the Extreme, it seems that the Extreme has the camera closer to your face than would be possible on the HD, which makes working with the camera's LCD easier.

It also seems from the pictures on your website that the Extreme does not have the ability to reposition the camera on the support rod closer or further from your face, is this correct? So the HD would be the better choice?

Also it seems that there wouldn't be any room for the 35mm adapter on the rods of the Extreme. I've added a picture of my setup to this post. If I compare the length of my own setup to the setup in this picture (http://www.dvtec.tv/uploads/2/7/0/9/2709704/659157_orig.jpg?133x129), it seems that my setup would stick out in front over the rods and be unsupported. Am I missing something?

Could I use the rods I already have on my setup? Is the Extreme lighter than the HD? Can you tell me more about the differences between the HD and the Extreme?

Also, could you give me an indication for the time it would take to ship it to the Netherlands?

The Extreme rods can be extended to any length, we use 3/8" threads on both ends of each rod.

A shoe mount is supplied with the DV Rig Pro. and there are 2 of them mounted on the Extreme.

If you would like to use the setup in the photo with an external monitor and because the setup is very long and front heavy, and you want the camera body over your right shoulder so you can reach the lens focus ring or FF, you probably need the DVRP HD.

If you want the camera to be placed in front of you, you can order the Grips and Support moduls - $ 291 and the shoulder brace module - $ 102 and mount them on your rods.

Let me know.

Thanks for the info, Danny!

It seems then that for my purposes the HD would be best. I've just placed an order for the HD and the bag.

I am a bit curious about the customs clearing costs, but we'll see about that when it gets here. Looking forward to the rig!
