DVI to HDMI Out

I have a DVI-to-HDMI adapter, and i was wondering if i were to use my hdmi capable tv, if that would be a viable monitor for color correcting?

Not without something like the Matrox MXO. (pretty sure) Someone will pitch-in and confirm.

Or the new Matrox MXO2. I can't wait to get my hands on one of those. You can watch a little demo video on their website and they talk about using your HDTV as a monitor. You can calibrate it with color bars and Blue only etc., for editing and all that stuff. Here is the link to the video:
