Can someone break down the difference between DVI- i and DVI-d. What applications/ what plugs need what? How can I tell the difference? Wiki isn't helping right now and I need this in lamens terms.

I just read the wiki article, and I think it contains all the information you need in relatively layman's... I am sorry, in lamen terms. What exactly was not clear to you? Devices have female connectors, you know, sockets, things with holes in them. Cables have male connectors on both side, you know, with pins. You can stick DVD-D male connector into either DVD-I or DVD-D socket, which means that you can use either a digital or an analog monitor if your computer has DVD-I socket.
