DVFilm maker audio question

Hey guys, I'm new here. I am not familiar with DVfilm maker- so my question is this-- If I use DVFilm maker to remove the 3:2 pulldown from my 24pA footage, what does it do to the audio? The audio has to be conformed so that it runs in sync with the now true 24p footage, right?

Re: DVFilm maker audio question

DVFilm Maker takes care of all that during the conversion to true 24p footage.

Hi Havok,

If you have DVFilmmaker output at 23.98fps (versus 24fps, it gives you options for both) your audio will have the same relationship to the image as it did before. You can also opt whether or not to account for any audio offset during this process of removing pulldown (or leave this to handle later in your editor.)

Also, just as a side note, I know that some of the earlier versions of DVfilmmaker did have a sync problem, so make sure you are using the latest version.

Hope that helps,
Clayton

Thanks Rodger for slipping in a much more succinct answer while I was away typing... ;)

Re: DVFilm maker audio question

thanks. Alright, now here's something that is driving me crazy. This is what DVFilm maker's site says about Premiere:

DVFilm Maker also has the option to output at exactly 24.00 frames/sec. In this case the audio sample rate is changed to 48048 Hz (.1% faster than 48KHz)

Edit your project with Adobe Premiere at 24.000 frames/sec and 48048 Hz audio. Export a 24.000P Quicktime using the DV-NTSC codec, also with 48048 Hz audio.

Alright- It's starting to make me mad. 48048 Hz in Premiere is non-existent. There are set presets for audio sample rates in Premiere. How do I do this?

Re: DVFilm maker audio question

I have a question about DVFilm maker, but it doesn't involve audio. Is it worth buying? I keep hearing that Premiere Pro is going to be able to edit 24p in the next update. If this is true is it worth buying?

Re: DVFilm maker audio question

..if you dont need it now.. wait and see whats in the update.. if you need it now, you have no choice.

Re: DVFilm maker audio question

Havok - Sorry, I actually haven't used Premier for some time and am not sure how to set up custom presets. That said, why can't you just go 23.98/48kHz out of DVFilmmaker? Is it that Premiere won't edit at 23.98fps?

Tyler - DVFilmmaker has a number of features, so some of the others may also be of use to you (in addition to removing advanced pulldown). The most prominent of these is being able to create a faux progressive 'look' on 60i material (regular interlaced video) and add 3:2 pulldown to 23.98/24fps material.

Hope this helps,
Clayton

Re: DVFilm maker audio question

the problem is that older versions of premiere would actually be at 23.98 instead of 23.976 when you set it to that. i think pprop fixed this, but not sure, as i never use that setting,,just 24p. the new ppro released may have 24p anyway though .

Re: DVFilm maker audio question

I think you need to add Quicktime Pro as a plugin to your Premiere Pro, then you'll get the 48048 hz audio option when you edit Quicktime clips.

Yes it did. Thank you, sir.

Re: DVFilm maker audio question

The work flow of getting 24P out of 24Pa for premiere can be really simple if you have After Effects 6. People keep complaining about it being difficult to do with AE but its really easy. You don't have to deal with audio frequency differences or anything like that. The only problem is its a bit lengthy, but at least you get to keep it as avi and do not have to go qt.

Are you then converting to RGB since it AE operates in RGB space?
