Tried different batches of same manufactureres DVDs

Since tried using Imation DVD's, Problem persists

failed to play smoothly on Macbooks, HP laptops, domestic DVD players

.mov files play smoothly with no errors

Problem is that the image pauses briefly (while the audio continues). Sometimes the DVD will freeze. There are no visual digital issues, just playback issues.

Our process has been to:
Exporting out of final cut as a quicktime (using apple prores 422 codec)
Average file size out of FCP is 2gb

Importing it into Toast 10 titanium and burning using the default settings. The settings have been VBR max 7mbps

THere are no errors reported during the burn.

WE are on tour shooting a lot of shows and this is really really serious. Any help would be appreciated. The issue seems to be the reliability of the DVD and its ability to provide a smooth stream of media to various readers.:crybaby:

If you've tried multiple types of media, maybe you should be replacing your DVD Writer. The laser on those things tend to get loose, or decay over time.

I recommend a Lite-On drive. You can buy an internal one for $20-$30 on Newegg, and then just pair it up with an external USB case for your mac. Total cost shouldn't exceed $60.

Edit: Just saw that you were in NZ. I'm not sure what prices you'll be paying there for a drive, or who you can order through. Sorry.
