I have avoided putting work on DVD to date as the process always drives me nuts. I just can't get decent results. However recently someone is interested in promoting my work and has requested DVD's with some examples. Problem is most will be viewing on monitors i'm sure.
I do understand that DVD is at 720x480 and will always look worse when viewed on a computer, but mine look really bad, i'm sure a I can do better. I use a lot of still images (jpegs) in my pieces and these look particularly bad. Is there a reason for this?
My current work flow is exporting from FCP 5 as a Quicktime movie and then dropping the files directly into a menu template in DVDSP (create track). I have upped the bit rate and set 2 pass VBR in DVDSP, but still poor results.
I poked around the forum and Compressor came up a few times. Should I be using this in my workflow? I don't know how to use it, which I why I have opted for the simplicity of DVDSP.
I would quite happily avoid this whole process altogether, but I don't know of a better format to place a showreel on that will play on any computer.
Any work flow tips gratefully accepted. This is making me miserable
Thanks!
