DVDA Tutorials

Are there any basic step-by-step tutorials out there? I've yet to reach the "Ah-hah!" with either the docs or Spot's Vegas 5 Editing Workshop.

I'm impatient. I want someone to take me by the hand and show me how to make a DVD that looks like a "real" DVD.

Yes. ;D

But I'd be happy to start with just being able to have an FBI warning pop up on insert first, followed by the bumper, followed by the menu, followed by the video(s).

Right now, all I can get is one of the above. Any one, but just one.

I wish DVDA had come with a sample project. I learn best by copying. Too impatient for anything else.

. . . Son of a *****. I thought I'd check to be sure there wasn't a sample project before actually posting this.

There isn't...not in my installation. But wait! There's one of the CD. Would have been nice if it had been installed with the rest.

Ignore this for now. I'll have a look-see at it and see if it suits.

Re: DVDA Tutorials

DVDA-2 can do all that, I believe. I think it can even do animated menu transitions like the big Hollywood DVD's, can't it?

Re: DVDA Tutorials

OK. The sample project that didn't get installed is exactly what I was looking for.

I think I'll go have a drink or three now so I'll have an excuse for being stupid. (Hopefully, no one will notice the time anomaly.)

Success!

However, as I downloaded instead of buying the CDs, I don't think I have that sample project. :(

WARNING: Shameless plug :-)

My 'DVD Authoring with DVD Architect 2.0' is three hours of in-depth "hand holding".

Check it out at www.VegasTrainingAndTools.com.

Thanks,
Gary

Re: DVDA Tutorials

Not-so-shameless plug, seeing as it's not my product: Get Gary's disks and let them hold your hand through the process.  Gary's stuff is very informative and will tell you what you need to know.  Just devote three hours to learning and you'll save months of frustration...

Re: DVDA Tutorials

Devote more than that. Between Gary's tutorials and Spot's tutorials, it's all money and time very well-spent. Gary's Vegas 5 companion is very well-done and quite accessible.

Re: DVDA Tutorials

Definitely get both if you can.  The point is, you'll be SO THANKFUL that you learned how to use the tool -- you'll save so many hours throughout the year, and have a more satisfying experience using the software.  A little training can make a big difference in your satisfaction level -- and in the quality of the product you produce.

Okey-doke. Why not...I've already got the Vegas set. :)

Re: DVDA Tutorials

I recommend DVD Authoring with DVD-A 2.0 by Gary Kleiner.
If Gary can teach me, he can teach you.
Hold his hand,---and he will walk you through the valley of the shadow of piles of DVD coasters.
Spot's tutorials are good too,--but haven't used his DVD-A one.
Both men are gifted teachers who know their craft.
You may also fine some tips on the VAAST website.
