I completed a video in Avid. It was shot 24pa but we edited in 30i timeline.
Ready to output, we made a quicktime reference and sent it to sorenson squeeze 4.
Played around with different mpeg-2 parameters and finally found one that resulted in superb quality. The mpeg2 at this point looks sharp and clear.
Next, we sent the mpeg-2 file to Dvd Architect. When we went to burn, it did not need to recompress anything because the mpeg-2 that sorenson made was already a MainConcept compressed file that DVDA understands.
Now, playing back the burned dvd, it looks very stair-steppy and pixelated. I've double checked all the settings, and no compression is occuring.
Also, viewing this dvd on a pc monitor or lcd screen looks significently worse than on a 30i tube.
What is the problem and can it be fixed. Is it that DVDA is just a cheap program? Should i get another dvd authoring program?
The only reason i used DVDA is because i was happy with the 5.1 audio enoding it was capable of.
