DVDA 24p DVD - Max length?

When rendering out from Vegas Pro 10, using the MPEG2 24p widescreen dvd setting, what is the maximum length I can have the clip on a single dvd (not dual layer) without having DVDA tell me it needs to recompress the files?

Sorry for the runon sentence. I'm sure there was a better way for me to phrase that question. I have a 1hr45min video that I want to fit onto a single DVD. Trying to figure out how to do it. Lots of plugins. Takes forever to render, even on my quad core, so I'd rather not play the guessing game for the next few days. If I need to chop it down, I will. If I need to render it as a more compressed file, I will.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Depends on the bitrate you select. At normal DVD bitrates (which is what the template gives you), probably about 90 minutes for a single-layer DVD.

You can lower the bitrate when you render.

I lowered the bitrate and my file ended up being 3.5 gigs, which is perfect... HOWEVER, when I dropped it onto DVDA it jumped the file size to 7.8 gigs... Doesn't make any sense. I only lowered the bitrate of the DVDA template in Vegas. No other modifications. Why would DVDA see a 3.5 gig file as 7.8?

Yes. Made a whole new blank project and dropped the file in. Goes from 0 to 7.8 when I drop the 3.5 gig file on there. Makes no sense to me.

How far did you lower the bitrate? It's possible that it's out of DVD spec and DVDA is seeing it as something it needs to re-render, so it's giving an estimate.

Thats possible... Do you know what the parameters might be? If I could condense this concert into an hour and a half, I would. Unfortunately I have to adjust the bitrate. Any suggested rates would be incredibly helpful!

mpeg2 for dvda. I used the template for 24p widescreen dvds, and modified the vbr to a Max of 6,000,000, average of 3,200,000 and minimum of 1,000,000. Would love to hear your thoughts
