dvd trouble with pc

Hi all,

I am having trouble outputting dvd's and it is not due to the software (pinnacle liquid edition) and not due to the burner (brand new, external dvd-writer from Philips). The problem is that the system does not recognize the burder as a dvd burner all the time, but only as a cd-rom burner.

Does anyone know how I could make my system aware of the fact that I want to burn dvd's?

Liquid Edition DOES have problems recognizing DVD burners. You probably want to de-install it, re-install the DVD drivers, then reinstall Liquid Edition.

Thanks David. Maybe that will do the trick...although it is still weird that even Nero and similar shareware programs don't work and recognise the burner...We'll give it a go...and go for Sony Vegas soon.
