DVD to Quicktime

I finished a one-off project 2 months ago for a client and put out to DVD.
Now the client want a uncompressed Quicktime for TV...
I have deleted all content form my NLE, and don't want to have to re-digitize the show.

anybody have a trick.

Re: DVD to Quicktime

Tough one...The data on the DVD is what it is, so you could suck that info back into your NLE and output as uncompressed, but you don't need me to tell you that that info will be the same. Any uprez would have to be some sort of interpolation of the footage you have. I'm unaware of any way to change the DVD info. Good luck

Re: DVD to Quicktime

I could do it the crappy way and take a composite signal out of my DVD player and record it to my DVX...

Re: DVD to Quicktime

Are they paying you for this extra work? It sounds like anything but redigitizing will be a compromise, but if they understand that you're going off DVD I guess it's alright.

Re: DVD to Quicktime

There must be a grain of truth in Dakotas idea with the DVD ripper idea?

Not that it's any help now, but this is why I always push my finals to dv tape

Re: DVD to Quicktime

Explain the options. You did this months ago with no expectation you'd be revisiting the same project, right? Just tell them you could reconstruct the whole project, but that would cost. You could rip the .vob files, but it won't be uncompressed (not that DV AVIs are uncompressed). You could record through composite or S-Video, but that's a compromise, too.

Why do they want an "uncompressed" Quicktime? Seems like the MPEG-2 .vob would be fine for creating a Quicktime for streaming or inclusion in a presentation. Why else would they want a Quicktime?

Re: DVD to Quicktime

Thanx for all your replys, I have found a utility called Handbrake for OSX that might do the trick.

I will download and pass on the info...

Re: DVD to Quicktime

Glad it worked out!

The developer is incessant about email updates..not a bad idea, since that is why I remember it..even though I don't use it much.

Re: DVD to Quicktime

Nice Pooh. I thought DVDx was put out of biz awhile back for copyright infringment but looks like I was misinformed - As per usual.
