DVD Studio Pro 4 user malfunction

Presently I have spent the last two days in the bowels of DVD Studio Pro 4 trying to make a high quality DVD that will play on my TV.
I have tried using these Compressor files;
HD DVD H.264
HD DVD Mpeg 2
And some other configurations that I am to burned out to think of at the moment.
When I insert these files into DVD Studio Pro 4 I can make a disk that will play on my Mac but I get an error message when I try and play them in the DVD player.
I am hoping I have overlooked a setting or something simple.
If someone could please throw me a rope I promise to put you in my will.
Thanks

Well the main problem i see is that you are using the wrong codec for playback on your DVD player for your TV. The HD DVD mpeg and h264 will only play on your mac, they arent playable on your DVD Player. It just cant read them.

youll want to use the DVD Setting of : DVD Best Quality 90 Minutes, thats a good preset for a nice quality disk. Remember DVD only supports Standard Definition playback. The HD stuff plays back on your mac because the mac is a compuiter and can kinda translate that stuff. But regular DVD players can only playback the regular stuff, no matter the type of TV

yeah totally what nic said.. i've been learning dvd studio pro myself but have had no problems when using the dvd best quality 90 minutes setting in compressor and dragging the two files created from that onto track 1. do that and you'll be set.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Something I did learn through this process was that when I dragged the H.264 Quicktime file I made in the Compressor into IDVD and processed it that way I got stellar results, much better than compressing it in imovie?
I must admit that after hours and hours of failed attempts I troubled over whether or not to openly pronounce my problem to the world, but through many hours spent on this site I can say I felt confident I would get help and results, even if it was just encouragement to keep on searching and learning.
Thanks
