DVD studio Pro 4:3 borders

I am creating a SD DVD 4:3 in DvD Studio Pro. In the track editor window of the main asset I have selected 4:3 as the display mode. However, when I take the authored DVD upstairs to my plasma and play the program in the 4:3 setting on the TV it creates these weird Black and white extension borders around the sides of the video instead of the standard black strips. Is this an issue with DVD studio pro or an option on my dvd player? And how can i set the borders to black?

When you click on the imported assets on the left, on the right the box should display all info from the file that is highlighted. I think there are settings there where you can make the sides black, etc. Or maybe its in the system settings, I know I have seen it so it is possible. I think black is the default though, so I'm not sure why yours was not displaying like that....
