i'm having problems getting the best quality with my dvd outputs.i don't use compression when making my quicktime file but i use quicktime conversion.could some one tell me what they use to get the best quality onto there dvds without having them look all washed out.thanks.

When you say you don't use compression, do you mean you don't use compressor? I use compressor (FCS 2) and before that Bitvice. Both gave me nice results.

I would try re-installing Compressor if you're having any issues with it. Its a strong compression software and holds up well in comparison tests to far more expensive solutions. Also, you paid for it with Final Cut Studio, so you should get your money's worth from it if possible.

If that's not doing the trick, you could then look to another compression application. You would have to pay for it, but it would give you better results than just Quicktime Conversion option. There are quite a few solutions out there, even for the Mac. The most recommended around here seems to be BitVice. It apparently gives Compressor quality results but much faster processing. Another option would be Flip4Mac's Episode. There is even a version that has Flash encoding ability.

cheers.

I use Compressor and the picture quality is good but I get "stuttering images." It appears as though a frame is missing every second or so. The look is choppy. Otherwise my picture quality is great with Compressor. Quicktime Conversion is computer or web quality. Lots of information (or picture quality) is taken out for a quicktime movie so it can be a small file.

Use compressor. Like has been said, you might want to try re-installing the software.

Trouble shoot your problems on google or try to find answers on dvxuser or anywhere but you should be able to work things out and then have some pretty decent output there.
