DVD Studio 4.1.2 Released just now

I have a question about this. Over the weekend I had to try and make a disc like this with the new DVDSP (even with menus) and had complete success with it. But exactly what kind of discs are these? They're not HD DVD in the strictest since because they're red laser based. They're not the 3x DVDs (well, I guess the 720p ones are, but I did my test in full 1080 MPEG-2). So are we just lucky that the HD DVD players are playing these back, or am I missing something about HD DVD specifications?

With h.264 I can easily put a full length HD project on a red laser DVD -R and if this is kosher (for lack of a better word) I'd love to and have it reliably play back in HD DVD players.

Any ideas?

A major part of the 4.1.2 update was getting up to spec with the DDP and CMF versions that are REQUIRED to make replicable discs for HD DVD publication. Now that those are up to spec, the discs made in DVD Studio pro should be plenty reliable.

You can choose the format in DVD Studio Pro for Blue Laser discs and thats for single and dual layer. But as far as garunteeing playback of DVD-R discs containing HD DVD format content on HD DVD players, i wouldnt guaruntee that 100%, more like 95%. Its not a matter of the disc not being up to spec anymore, because now it is. It is whether or not the player will play HD content from a DVD disc
