DVD STP Burning Problem

So I just got into DVD STP about a few weeks ago. Made a menu, buttons, and all for a film of mine. I burn my first DVD with a DVD-R disk. Pop it back in my macbook player to make sure it all works fine. It works fine. Then I go to another DVD player from the TV. It doesn't read the disk at all. I try it at 2 other DVD players and the same thing. So what did I do wrong here to not make it play on other players other than a mac? Was I suppose to set something before hitting the burn button?

Assuming that you created the disc correctly, (you can check it in dvd sp using the Simulate mode) then I would guess it's a problem with one of these:

1) Brand of dvd-r doesn't work with the player. (won't play anything, causes error on player)
2) Bit rate of your video is too high. (it should still show the menu if this is the case)
3) Stick-on labels can mess up a dvd in some players. (usually will play menu and some video then stop with an error)

Simulation went through fine.

DVD-R's I've always used with iDVD and have never had a problem with them.
Bit Rate - I pulled it down a little lower since I was handling a lot of big HD video.
Don't do stick-on labels anymore. I directly print on them. Been doing it for a while, never had a problem with it.

That's odd. I know a friend I could ask. Hopefully fix my problem. Thanks for the help.

EDIT: Well talked to my friend and said the same thing. I'm just going to try it on a few different DVD's and if nothing, then guess I'm going to have to go with iDVD till I can find out what's wrong with it.

If you worked with iDVD a lot my guess is you tried the same workflow with DVDSPro, which is to import a MOV file directly and compress there. This method doesnt work for DVDSPro. You need to compress your MOV to MPEG2 & and AIFF to AC3 by using compressor, then import into DVDSPRo.

What is little lower for you? Your max bitrate practically should never be more than 7.8mbps. (for a single layer SD DVDs)

No, I went to compressor and used these 2:

My max bit rate was higher than that. It was either at 15 something or 25 something.
So then if I set it down to no more than 7.8mbps it should work on other DVD players?

If you used 'preset 90 min' your max bitrate was 7.7Mbps anyway. (And avarege birate was 6.2) So that wasnt the problem. (It cant be 15 or 25 btw, I dont know where you are looking at)

Here is other possible steps to solve your problem:
-Do not burn from DVDSpro. Use DVDSpro to build only, then use another program(most popular is Roxio Toast) to burn it. If you dont wanna pay for it there are free burning programs out there. check versiontracker.com
Infact no pros use DVDSpro to burn to my knowledge.
-Do not burn with the max speed your DVD brand allows to. Always burn a step slower. If it is 16x speed use 8x speed for example. Or, use the 'best' option if it is available.
-If you want a DVD brand that is very compatible with every DVD player, use Taiyo-Yuden 8x DVD-R .They are the best in my opinion.
