DVD ripping application for PC - can anyone rfer me to one?

If the DVD you're trying to get content from is unencrypted, you should be able to just import the .VOB files from the VIDEO_TS folder.

If, on the other hand you are trying to get content from an encrypted DVD, then the answer is "too bad for you." There are several programs that will decrypt and rip a DVD, but they are all illegal in the United States due to the Digital Millenium Copyright Act. :zombie_smiley:

Just drag and drop the .vob files (inside the video ts folder on the dvd).
If that doesnt work. Just rename the extension of .vob into .mpg (since .vob files are basically mpeg2 streams).

If encrypted / copy protected (as most hollywood dvds are) then u need a ripper that will unencrypt the various css encryption and macro encryption. Then the arcos protection and so on. Just google for some dvd rippers which unlock all these encryptions and youll be good to go. Though technically its illegal as twistedlincoln mentioned.

Handbrake is about the best there is on any platform. If you have the VLC videoplayer installed (a great media player that can handle any format) then it will also also be able to make backups of encrypted discs.
