based on you experience with blank DVD's what brand/model should I buy. Im looking to buy blank DVD's for a 90 min project
what's better DVD-R or DVD+R

The most compatible I've found are Taiyo Yuden white injet-printable DVD-R's.

I was in PC world and they told me that DVD+R is noticably higher quality but DVD-R is slightly more compatible.

Unfortunatley my G5 comes with only DVD-R burner so I can't test it.. does anyone else know what the crack is?

I've found DVD-R more compatible than +R. Here's a good site that contains lists of media, burners, players, etc..

+R =problems.

Use -R. It's a more universal format.

I use FUJIFILM silver surface DVD-R's with no compatability issues to date. To me the silver surface makes the finished label appear more 3 dimensional than the white.

Yes DVD-r silver surfaced inkjet printable. At the moment I use the Epson 300 for printing. Only one at a time output, but hey it only cost $89.00 at Sams and puts out a great quality. As supply demands I plan to update to a laser printing machine.

I use the same printer. I've only used white, though.

As I said, the silver in my opinion adds a dimensional effect to the final product. I have been pleased, as well as my customers.

+ R = problems = me . I just bought a bunch of them.
Whats wrong with + R if I my ask?

Hoinestly, I don't know why you guys are having so many problems with +R. I've burned HUNDREDS. Never got one back.

Well, I'm in the odd spot where +R doesn't work at all, yet +RW works fine in all players.

I burn lots more +R's. I think they are Verbetim. DVD-R take much longer time to burn and I get more -R coasters. I use one of the Sony burners.

I've tried a bunch of discs and no horror stories, but this disc gives me the fewest burn errors:

mitsui, inkjet printable, silver face is cool

( they sell a "production line" disc that is pretty good, no complaints yet, though the mistuis's less error. more $$)
