DVD player as Field Monitor?

I need some type of field monitor, and was wondering if I could use any old portable dvd player? I'm more interested in shot composition than anything, so it doesn't have to be excellent resolution, etc. If not, what are some other good/cheap methods for a field monitor?
 
im preety sure i remmember seeing some1 post about this subject the other day, but anyway, yes, portable DVD players are a good alternative(in terms of tight budgets) to field monitors. I used one for a shoot and it kept the director(who is one of those ego driven prik ass's) out of our hair. most players differ in terms of framing and what the player is willng to show in and outside the safe lines. It will work regardless, just run some tests to mark off your exact framing.
