Hey all,

We have a small EPK video that the client wants on a DVD. The video will not be longer than 10 minutes and we shot all the footage DVCPRO HD 720p/24pn. I have a few questions about prepping the project and exporting.

1. What should I set the project settings to to optimize it for DVD output?

2. Since we shot in HD and we will be outputting to DVD (SD) will I get the balck bars on the top and bottom when they try and view the DVD?

Thanks for your help

1. I usually edit in 720p, then output for DVD using Compressor.

2. Depends on whether you are burning a 4:3 or 16:9 DVD and what your client will be viewing the DVD on. If you are creating 4:3 DVD, you can avoid bars by turning on automatic cropping when you output via Comprssor, which will crop the sides of the image down to 4:3. If you make a 16:9 SD DVD for viewing on a widescreen monitor there is no issue with bars.

All of this is covered in more detail in the user guides.
