Hi guys,

I watched this dvd the other day with a guy a know, but I am having trouble remembering the name.

It was a dvd set on how to frame shots and what the meaning of a shot is. It was all in 3d animation, had a female voice for all of it and said at the start that they are a small company and not to pirate their dvds.

Anyways if anyone knows what the dvds are called I would love to get them and I think a lot of cinematographers would was well.

Thanks

They're called "Hollywood Camera Work", and I agree, they surely are a great way of learning camera movement and framing, though it might be boring some times.. Hehe, I always fall asleep when watching it for more than 10 minutes a time :)

That's it thanks.

I know what you mean by boring, but the amount of knowledge you get is worth dozing off a couple of times.

How do they justify a $400 price tag for 6 dvds?

By the amount they cost to produce divided by the number they expect to sell, plus a little profit. Like anything else, right? They were probably quite expensive both in dollars, and in particular in hours, to make, and it only sells to a very sepecialized, niche market, so it all makes sense to me. It seems that most narrowly specialized "seminar" type multi-DVD sets go for around that much.

I just bought mine, due here tomorrow (woohoo!), for only $289 shipped cross country, after the DVXuser discount.

Just bought them as well

Just bought them as well

I'm still trying to make it through the first DVD. Great info but they definitley put you to sleep if you try to watch a whole 1.5 hour DVD in one sitting.

I will have to watch them over and over in half hour increments.

Worth the price especially with the DVXUser discount.

Actually, the narrator talks at such a quick pace, even at bedtime it's hard to imagine falling asleep watch the DVDs (but it's not difficult to go into overload). Agreed, take frequent breaks, redo segments until you've got it (taking notes also helps). Even better, go to the Hollywood Camera exclusive forums, read some posts and try out the exercises.
