DVD ingestion

I have some family videos that were digitized into .IFO files... what should I use to make .AVI's out of them? Is there anything free that is decent in terms of quality?

Also, two of them were 8mm that was transfered in a different way... they made a nicer label and box, but they also made it so the DVD can't be explored! I am trying to hund the guy down but i can't get in touch with him not do I know if he'll have any clue about how to ingest this one into Vegas...
 
weird.. the ones that aren't locked drop in when I copy them onto the HDD and drop them from there


I still need to figure out how to get the ones from the locked DVD...



[ranting]freaking dude locks a family video?!? agghhh!!!... now I might have to learn how to pirate stuff to get my fiance's family 8mm films!!! just ridiculous
