Greetings!
I'm working in FCP 5 on a dual-processor 1.2 Mac G4 and for a project I'm working on I've had to import my footage from a non-copyright guarded DVD. To be clear, I am not bootlegging or doing anything illegitimate with this footage. I'm working with a company called Synapse Films to sync up the audio commentary that was recorded for a film called STREET TRASH for their upcoming special edition release. For ease and because of a quick deadline, I was provided with a disc as opposed to the usual DVCam master since I only need the film itself for reference quality.
I had no problem placing the video segments onto the FCP timeline (though I do notice some missing frames between each segment, but I can deal with that as this isn't meant to be final video). What I'm confused by, of course, is that there seems to be no way to port over the audio information from the DVD. Is there a step I'm missing in this process, or will I simply need to play the disc audio into my computer and record it in? I was hoping there would be a quick and easier way to do this, and if someone could help with that information I'd be very appreciative as I'm on a tight deadline for this project.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and looking forward to the advice anyone has to offer.
Sincerely,
Scooter McCrae
