I am wondering what are some techinques in order the following:

A friend recorded a video and put it on a disc and now they want me to burn the video on two other disc using the dvd they gave me. How do I go about doing this?

And when I extract it will it erase the original copy?

If you have a mac, you can get dvdxdv for about $25.
Works great.
I don't know about windows stuff anymore though.

Mac or PC?
Is the DVD one that you can play in a DVD player or is it just a data disk?
the easy check is does it have a video TS folder or just a video file.

Do they want you to send them DVD's with a video file or do they want a DVD they can pop in a player?

If its a "playable" DVD and they just want you to make copies then just use whatever you use to burn DVD's to copy it.
Same thing is it's a file and they just want copies.
If your going from file to playable DVD or visa versa it's more complicated.

I am using windows.
Someone recorded a video on to the a homemade dvd which plays on dvd players it is not a data disk.

They want me to make a copies of the dvd. Only 2 copies out of the original one. If i burn it it wont delete right? what do i use

I just checked and its a video_ts file

download DVDShrink and make a 'backup' of the DVD with 100% quality, that's free and easy to do.

A friend of mine uses handbrake to rip a store bought dvd movie so he can put it on it his iTouch saving him money from getting it through iTunes.
