DVD Exported from Studio Pro not working on Windows 7

Hi there,

I exported a DVD out of FCP, encoded it Compressor and authored it in Studio Pro 4. It was made in regular SD and burnt onto a DVD-R.

It works on every MAC computer and DVD player I tested it in, but my client is telling me it wont play in his Windows Media Player on his PC. He is running Windows 7.

I went over to a friends house and tested the DVD on his computer which is running Windows 7 and it played in Windows Media Player perfectly fine. At first we figured it worked because he had DIVX installed. We then uninstalled DIVX and restarted the computer. When the DVD was inserted the thing still played properly. My friend has no other 3rd party codex installed.

Any idea as to why it works everywhere except on my clients computer?

Thanks!

You'll need to find out if the DVD that you've burned is actually reading in their drive.

DVD lasers tend to start decaying after 2 years. Make sure that you have quality media, and a drive that isn't too old.

Certain drives are more compatible with certain kinds of media. Check out the Myce Forums to get more info on media that's compatible with your drive.

I highly doubt that it's a codec issue since Mpeg-2 is included as standard with Windows 7, and Microsoft's codecs take priority over any other codecs installed since most of them support DXVA hardware acceleration.
