DVD cover, creating myself ... need tech help

I am creating the DVD cover for my film and wanted to know some of the parameters. I did shoot stills at 10 MP, and will be mocking it up in Photoshop.
My plan is to send everything out to a company on the web to burn the DVD's and print the covers. I've seen several deals out there but need to create it first.
I do know 300dpi is suggested, what about size? Leave room for bleed ... about 3 to 4 mm from the edge.
Anything else?? I've printed them myself before but having them professionally printed would be nice to have.
Also if anyone has had great experience with a particular company that would be very helpful.
Thanks!

www.mediafast.net - I've used these guys several times and they're great to work with. They've got templates you can download that will help you out on the parameters for artwork.

Sounds like you're going to printing these covers yourself....

Take the video case you'll be using and pull out the artwork and then use that as the template. You're right, you should leave a bit of extra extension of the artwork, because when they cut the artwork they don't always cut it right. So about a millimeter or two of bleed is good.

Cut a sample yourself and place it into the video box. Make sure it fits, the title of the movie is centered on the spine. Also figure out where the copy bar code goes -- leave a blank area in the artwork for that, so essential info about the movie isn't covered up by the bar code.

The rest you know....

No actually I'm not printing them myself. I'm sending to a printer along with the DVD for a bulk run.
I am going to do the design and send the TIFF file for printing, was just curious about the set up.
