DVD capture or Import for editing???

YA, I have a burnt Firewire port on my DVX100 and no other mini dv player so I'm stuck burning to a dvd burner to get my video into the pc. The file the dvd burner creates is a .vro movie file? The files play with power DVD on the pc but Premiere says it's not a supported file type. Is there any way to import DVD clips for editing? Much thanks, Cory
 
I found the DVD ripping thread and it does cover many of my questions however if anyone knows directly about vro files please advise, thanks again. I'm going to try and rename the vro to mpg just in case?
