lets say i shot a video in 24p on my dvx. then i cut it in fcp express hd. could i burn that to a dvd, or do i have to get that dvd authoring software? does it come with the powerbook? could some explain dvd authouring?

Shoot F5 modde (24p) and edit in Express. HSoudl be able to burn to DVD using iDVD.
idvd will come with your powerbook,and is probably the easiest place to get started authoring.
You will just have to do a tutorial or two to understand how it works,it realy is easy with idvd,and if you want to jump to dvd studio pro later it will take more tutorials but still not that hard to pick up.
