DVD Architect

Hey everyone. I'm having problems with this, and would really appreciate some help.

First off, does anyone know of any tutorials, free ones, that could help me with this program?

Also, I'm having trouble burning a disc. I have a 19.7 GB AVI of a play, and every time I try to put it on a disc, it says it's only around 30 MB. It says there's plenty of room to have a high CBR, and it will put a five minute behind the scene's short on there. I would really appreciate some help here. I know this is stupid, but do I need to render to MPEG-2 first? If you have any questions, let me know. I really appreciate this help. Thanks for reading.

So go to the Help Tab in the menu toolbar while I have Vegas open, and look under DVD Architect? Does Vegas 8 have among it's built in tutorials one for DVD Architect?

Once again, thanks.

When I try to play that tutorial, it says that a button on the toolbar is not displayed, and to reset my toolbar. It is in default, and no matter how many times I reset it, it refuses to play.

How can you put 19 gigs on a DVD? you have blue ray?

Btw, some people author in DVDA but BURN in Nero. They say it works better.

It doesn't say which button isn't displayed, it just says that a button it wants to show me isn't displayed. I tried enabling every single button to be displayed, and selectively displaying every button there is, and it still gives me this message.

And brian, that is just how big the AVI is. I am burning this to a regular DVD-R disc, and I assumed that DVD Architect would do all the encoding for me. Obviously, this is my first time using it, so I don't know that much about it, and thanks for bearing with me!

Probably not, at least for a while. I'm editing on a pretty old computer, and I've just about got my hard drive maxed out rendering out this video. I'll hopefully have all 50 of my DVD's burned by the end of the week, then I have a week before I have to start on the next 50, so I'll try then.

Ok, I'm back to whine for more help.

I was real excited, because my cases came in, and I finished rendering out to MPEG-2. I burned it all to a disc, and everything looked like it was going to work.

I played my 4 minute behind the scenes piece first, and it played absolutely perfectly. I have that rendered as an AVI with PCM audio, and it plays and works fine. I'm not sure if this is causing any problems though, and I am planning on going back and fixing all this. I also re-rendered my play out. I selected MPEG-2 from my choices, and just hit render. I didn't really pay all that much attention.

I guess I should have, because now I have a chock-full disc that plays my behind the scenes perfectly, and my entire play is absolutely beautiful, but without any audio.

It turns out that was rendered as PCM, and it said it would recompress it. It doesn't have anything, and I'm not sure what the problem is.

Thanks for all the help, and sorry for rambling, I'm just starting to worry cause I might have to push back some deadlines.

Ok, another update. I figured out that when Vegas 8 renders out MPEG-2 Video, it doesn't render out any audio. So how can I get a complete rendered version of the entire audio?

Thanks so much for you guys' help throughout this project.

It doesn't when you use the DVD Architect templates, and it shouldn't. You should render the audio separately as either AC-3 or PCM (.wav).

Again, check the Help section under DVD Architect.

I rendered out the audio as AC-3, and I double checked it to make sure it rendered perfectly. Now I can't figure out how to tell DVD Architect to link them up.
If you could tell me how to let DVD A know that the video is here, and the audio is there, and they belong together, then thanks.

And sorry to be such a bother. I must've read the entire manual and I still don't understand DVD A.

is there a way of making Vegas render out a 4.5gig MPEG2 file? when ever i use the DVD arch template with a long 3 hour show, it always gives me like 6 gig files that have to be recompressed... and that never looks good. is there like a "target size" option?

You can't within Sony Vegas, as far as I know(and I've obviously proven so far that I don't know anything). I looked around for an option like that, and couldn't find one. But, if you want to do that, then do it old school style, and open up Window's Movie Maker. Import your video, then go to save to disk on the left side. It will give you an option to choose a format, then to choose a target file size. I don't know if it will render out an MPEG-2, as I've never tried, but if you're going for a feature like that, try it out. It just might work.

Also, thanks a ton to David. I got my project finished and am burning as we speak, planning to deliver later today. I would not be there without your help. I honestly considered myself moderately fast at learning a program, but burning that DVD just stumped me. I now have a complete, beautiful looking DVD, and you helped me so much that I'm tempted to put your name at the top of the credits(except for the fact that I'd have to re-render something that took approximately 6 hours the first time) ;)
