If i compile 16:9 and 4:3 onto one time line, in vegas, how can i set it up so that the DVD player will letterbox and play fullscreen??? will the DVDplayer autoomatically do this? do i need tomake it a native 16:9?? this is confusing, but consider it a compilation reel and i am mixing the two kinds of footage.

Let me see if I understand... You have some footage that's shot 16:9, and some that's 4:3, right? And you want to put both on the same DVD, but as different programs... so from the main menu they could choose one program, and it would be 16:9, and then they could go back to the main menu and choose another program, and that one would be 4:3, right?

If so, you don't have any problem, the DVD player will sort it all out. Just render from Vegas using the appropriate DVD Architect preset (NTSC or NTSC Widescreen) for each file. The DVD player will figure out what aspect ratio to use to present it properly on the user's television.

I think you want to play as a continuous piece, right?

If so, you'll have to choose one or the other, meaning, is it more likely to be played on a 4:3 screen or a 16x9 screen? If 4:3, you'll want to render the whold project as 4:3; when it's rendered, the letterbox bars will be added into the picture with the 16:9 footage. If 16:9, you'll want to render as widescreen, but then you'll have to decide what to do with your 4:3 material -- do you want to crop it so the whole thing is 16:9, or do you want to leave it as-is and have black bars on the sides?

If you're not sure, I'd say you should go with the 4:3 option. It will be more universal.

thanks you guys.

- i figured out a solution for my problem. Basically what is happeneing is, i am having an Art exhibition, and i am showing 4 of my Video pieces, one of them is 16:9, and the others are 4:3. i wanted the mto play as one long piece that loops, but i figured out that , in DVD architect you can link the end of one individual piece to the next one. so it basically plays as if it were one long single film.

But its good to know thoes other options exist, THank you.
