Tryin to get a dvd mastered for a final class assignment. I wrote my menu on a piece of paper and then wanted to put buttons over the writing making them actual buttons. But i wrote the menus at an angle, how do i rotate the overlaying buttons to match with the angled writing, instead of having a big ugly box square with the screen over the writing?

You can’t rotate the buttons. What you should do is make a mask of the menu and use that as your highlight mask. This will hide the fact that the buttons are big squares and only show your highlight mask.

The easiest way to do this is to make copy of the menu in a graphics editor and make the words white and everything else black. Then assign this as a mask to the menu in DVD Architect using the Intensity setting on the Highlight Mask Mapping.

Keith Kolbo shows you how to do this in the VASST Absolute Training for Vegas+DVD, Vol. 6 Going Deeper in DVD Architect. I know this sounds like a commercial because I work at VASST but I learned a few things from Keith on this training DVD. It really is awesome for learning how to totally customize the look of your DVD. It even covers PSD menu layers (which is a tough topic to understand from just reading the manual). Once you see Keith do it, it all comes together.

I've been looking at getting the vasst add on for awhile. For now i ended up putting ticks in front of the menu writing, then i jus highlighted the ticks with squares, doesn't look bad and it was good enough for the amount of time i had to work on it. I'll use your mask plan and figure out how to do that so that next time i'm ready, thanks!
