DVD Architect glitch

Hi all

Just rendered my project from Vegas to DVD Architect Studio 5 (MPEG-2, AC-3 Studio, "DVD Architect NTSC Widescreen" profile). After burning the disc and playing it, I discovered the video begins one second too late. Meaning, the first second of the video is not on the DVD, which throws the whole thing off.
The render from Vegas was fine and complete, so I have to assume the issue is with DVD Architect. I burned two different discs (after preparing the DVD file a second time) and got the same results.
Anybody has any idea what can cause this?

The picture was recompressed from 24p. Can that be part of the issue?

Thanks.

Have you tried multiple DVD players? Some players have a slight delay before displaying a picture. I have one that does that.

No, not if your video file is OK. DVD Architect won't know it was originally 24p. All it will see is the 60i file you rendered.

Did you create any markers or loops in the video before authoring the DVD?

No, I only tried it with the one player I have, but I never had any delay problems with it before. Granted, my project is not menu-based. Maybe that will be the solution... but I don't know if menus are needed or wanted for DVD screeners.

David, Before authoring I'm getting a warning from DA that my video file will be recompressed because it's in 24p, that's why I was asking.
I did not create anything other than just preparing the file and then burning it as a single movie to a disc. I did it before a few years back the same way/same process with another project and I don't remember having any problems then.

Didn't you say you rendered using the DVD Architect NTSC widescreen template? That should give you a 60i file, not a 24p file.

Did you change the render template frame rate before you rendered? Don't do that.

You could do it in the Pro version (make a 24p DVD), but Studio can't do it.

Sorry, my mistake. I meant to say the project's native frame rate was 24p. But yeah, I rendered with the DVD Architect profile and used 60i NTSC Widescreen for authoring. Nevertheless, the program gave me a warning beforehand on the "Make DVD" window (a yellow icon) that the video will be recompressed. I'm not sure if that's standard or abnormal.

Granted, the image doesn't look that great. But it's a screener, so hopefully it's good enough. Maybe when you render an HD footage to an SD DVD it just looks like crap...

Well, then it didn't say it would be recompressed because it's 24p. It wouldn't have been a 24p file.

How long is the program? Perhaps too long for a DVD at the quality level, especially a single-layer DVD?

Yeah, I don't know why it gave me that warning. Maybe it's standard...?

It's just a short film, about 6.5 minutes long.

I may have to try a different authoring program if I don't have any choice. I heard you can burn a DVD directly through Vegas. Is that recommended?

Per suggestions here and in the other thread I added a 2-second black before the program in Vegas and a chapter break at the beginning, re-rendered and then re-burned, and this time it's fine. :-) I'm not sure what did the trick but thank you everyone who helped. I really appreciate it.
