DVD- AC3 or AIFF

Hi,

I was wondering whether AC3 audio recorded onto a DVD-R can be heard on all set-top DVD players including old ones. Do all set-top DVD players have built-in AC3 decoding? I'd prefer to not have the audio burned as AIFF as it takes up too much space that could be used instead for a higher video bitrate. Any info much appreciated.

Thanks,
Alexander

AC3 is the Dolby Digital and is what you should be using. Particularly if you're putting a large movie on DVD since it take up so much less space than AIFF.
