DVCPROHd vs OnLocation AVI quality & copression

Has anyone analyzed the differences in quality between clips of the same scene shot with an HVx 200A using Onlocation to produce a high def avi versus the native P2 DVCProHD 720P or 1080i format? Is the avi more compressed? Is the color worse? Is there any perceptable difference? Is Onlocation using the Microsoft DV AVI codec for compressing the avi? Would the DVCPROHD codec be inherently better and contain more information?

Thanks, Steve

Barry, I have a quick question. I bought your HVX videos and I really liked the idea of using onlocation to monitor my shoots and increase recording time. I just set up a laptop with onlocation cs3 and the recordings look great in onlocation. Unfortunately when I import the onlocation avi t2 files into Vegas 8.0 they show up in a squished 4:3 format. Shooting in 1080 30p I get an avi 1280/1080 in size which is what it says they should be in the onlocation manual. I have been using vegas for years and I have tried every setting I can think to to make the footage import like it does using raylight and mxf files. What am I missing here? I would like to be able to combine p2 footage with onlocation recordings and have the footage match up for editing in Vegas.
I have a panasonic pvgs 500 camera and it shoots 16:9 to onlocation and opens up correctly in Vegas. Also, when I set the HVX to tape mode it records properly in 16:9 and opens in vegas.
