DVCPROHD -- Realtime requirements?

Hey all,
I just got a Macbook (non-pro) and after a little bit of editing, I found I couldn't do basic filters on DVCPROHD footage (color corection, flipping) without fully rendering everything. Do realtime effects on DVCPROHD footage require an independent graphics card, or are my 1.83ghz CPU / 512MB RAM to blame here?

Also, if anyone else here here is editing DVCPROHD footage on a non-pro Macbook, I'd love to hear any optimization tips/tricks. Thanks!

The first guilty is your lack of ram.
You need to fill it up (2gb)

Secondly, a faster external FW drive wouldn't hurt either.

Yeah, the RAM was my first priority -- but will upgrading the RAM allow me to apply basic filters/color correction to DVCPROHD clips in real time?

Barry? Where did you read that? There is one of the orignial MBP models that had a video card that would not support Motion, but that's about it, from what I understand.

Also, your RT settings should all be set to Dynamic to get the most RT from the system.

Apple says FCP Studio won't run on a Mac that uses the Intel 950 GMA graphics card.

The Mac Mini and the Macbook both use the Intel 950.

Yep, that's the graphics card it won't support! I didn't realize it's the one used in a Mac Mini. Hmmm...
