I'm shooting a project in which I'm mixing a lot of DVX footage with S16 film. I'm using Digital Film Tools 55mm filters a lot on the DVX footage to make it bloom a little and match the S16.
Is there any advantage to setting up a project under the DVCPRO50 codec in FCP, if only using footage captured in the DV25 codec? I'm wondering about this for a couple of reasons-
1. Color correction should work better under DV50- more color information to use. But will the DV25 material be affected?
2. DV50 should translate to MPEG-2 better, since this will be a DVD release.
But, with garbage-in-garbage-out being the rule, I'm wondering if it makes any difference.
Whaddaya think?
