the title pretty much says it all. what are the best settings in premiere for dvc pro for video going on youtube?

what about dvd

DVCPRO HD? or SD?

either way... ahmmm... there are a few options.

I usually export about 30 seconds of 3 different ones and upload them all to private.

after it gets YouTube processed which takes sometimes up to an hour, I check the quality.
The one I like the most is the keeper. Then I go back to Premiere and render the entire project with my choice and volah!

.wmv
.h264
.mp4
.m4v
.avi

My last YouTube one was .wmv and it was a mix of HD with SD from tape but the whole thing looks HD.

You can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvObCv_CErI

I export to 1280x720 HD square pix 1.0 even if it's an SD timeline.
The encoder does the up-rezz.
I love facebook because it takes full hd .avi
man that's sweet!

DVD is always MPEG2 unless you're going to burn on blueray.

or you can try this for youtube and see how it comes out:

i tried various clips and uploaded them onto youtube and they look nothing compared to the originals.. like there clear but there is the grain on the screen.

Take a look at this thread:

It's the Youtube HD compression thread in the compression subfourm.

You're going to run into issues trying to scale your footage from 960x720 to 1280x720. If your footage doesn't look good, you'll need to do some pretty difficult stuff to get it to scale in high quality, or you'll need to hire a compression expert.

I'm curious to know what your original footage was and what size and format did you upload?

Alex, Great stuff man! thanks for sharing!

no and yes... It shoots 720p in a grid of 960x720 with a PAR (pixel aspect ratio) of 1.333 which makes the picture 1280x720

please watch this in HD and you will see what i mean..

everyone in the hvx section was saying that all that grain has something to do with rendering

I see little grain, only artifacting. Grain (technically noise in the digital realm) is not well compressed by any codec due to its random nature, though there's plenty of optimizations in implementations such as x264. Web video is always re-compressed though, which is unfortunate even if you successfully preserve the grain/noise structure on your end.

something must be wrong in the render, could be bit rate related or adding a few motion keyframes may help since it was even playing choppy and pausing for me on vimeo.

and I could play all other HD videos on there just fine.

I just saw it and the quality looks good.
I'm going to assume then that you are talking about "motion blur" and not the quality of the video it's self.
Is that what you mean?
