This situation is beyond my knowledge for the moment. We shot a film using a tape based Varicam onto DVCPRO-M tapes. We then imported the footage in Final Cut Pro, in NTSC 4:3 letterboxed. We now want to have an HD transfer made to create an HD cut of the film. The sound was edited using Pro Tools and was off of the down converted footage. The only way I know how to solve this is to re import the footage used in the cut using a DVCPRO deck with the original tapes. I am guessing the timecode will be the same.
Is this correct or is there another, perhaps more logical way of doing this?
The sound is another issue. Will the original sound need to be re loaded into Pro Tools with all the filters staying in tact? There are also some visual effects but I know they can be re created in HD, even though some of them were created in the right format and down converted in the timeline.
If these questions can be answered, perhaps soon, I will be grateful.
If you need more info to help me solve this, I'll provide as much as I can.
