Is the MacBook Pro Intel Core duo with 2GB of RAM fast enough to edit DVCPRO HD in FCP? If not if is the MacBook Pro Intel Core 2 duo with 2GB RAM will be that much faster?
I was wondering something similar. I have an Apple Dual 1.8ghz G5 with 128mb of VRAM and of 1.25MB of memory. I edit from a FW800 G-Raid.
The new Macbook Pro has 256MB of Vram and comes with a stock 2GB of memory. It also has FW800.
Seems like the new Macbook Pro would outperform my G5 tower. The only factor is if the 2.33GHZ intel Duo Core processor works as well as the Dual 1.8 G5.
Anyone know? Would the Macbook Pro beat my G5 in editing DVCPRO HD? I really want to go portable.
I was using a dual 2.0 G5 with 4 gb until I first got a core duo MBP 2.0 and I now have the core2 MBP 2.33. I have used both extensively to edit DVCPro HD with external FW800 drives. Both worked fine and the second MBP with UB version of FCP is much faster then the dual G5 I had.
