OK.
I broke a rule today. I switched from my old Powerbook 1.67 and FCP 5.14 to a new Macbook Pro 2.4 with FCP Studio 2 and FCP 6 in the middle of a project to gain speed. That part mostly worked until now.
I have a DVCPro HD 720p project that was shot mostly on an HVX200 in 24pn mode. So I am editing in 23.98 timeline. I have a few pieces of stuff from a Varicam and HDV camera at 60 to add to my project. So in FCP 5.14 I had stuff layed down with mixed frame rates side by side and I could see it in the viewer and canvas no problem.
I switched to FCP 6.0 and now I can see the varicam stuff in the viewer, but it comes up black in the canvas. Why. The only way to see it now is to select "Render all YUV material in High Precision YUV" in Video Processing Setting.
The weird thing is, if I make a DVCPro HD 720p/60 project and timeline, I can see it fine. I would hate to go back to slow renders on my old Powerbook, but this is a killer. Hopefully it is a total head slapper and someone here will point me on my way.
Thanks.
Rob
